Bridge Pastor
Jane Jones
Pastor Jane Jones is a part-time Lay Minister serving the Flagstaff UCC as “bridge pastor” during this time of transition between settled pastors and COVID’s challenging influence on churches everywhere. She served as the full-time pastor for the First Congregational Church UCC in Prescott from 2009 – 2015, and also for Faith UCC in Dewey as that congregation sadly closed its doors in 2019. As part of her covenant with the Southwest Conference, Pastor Jane is a member of COCAM B, and she is the “profile coach” for Rincon UCC’s pastor search team in Tucson. When she has free time, Pastor Jane likes to crochet, create fine sterling jewelry, and play with watercolors.
Church Musician
Evan Courtney
Evan Courtney has loved church music since he was a kid, growing up in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He started playing the organ in church when he was 14, and continued on to study music at William Jewell College, in Liberty, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City. He received a degree in Church Music and Organ Performance in 2012, and worked as a church musician and conductor in Kansas City until July of 2015, at which time he accepted the position of Director of Music Ministries at the United Methodist Church of Red Bank, New Jersey. Since then, Evan has lived and worked at the Jersey Shore, where he is able to make music with a host of wonderful musicians, including so many people at the UMC of Red Bank. He has also enjoyed performing with various arts organizations, including the Monmouth Civic Chorus and the Garden State Philharmonic. Evan is so excited to be able to provide First Congregational Church of Flagstaff with music during the COVID-19 pandemic, and while the arrangement is temporary, he knows that his experiences here will be lasting ones.
