Our Values

Open and Affirming

Open and Affirming (ONA) is the United Church of Christ’s (UCC) designation for congregations, campus ministries, and other bodies in the UCC which make a public covenant of welcome into their full life and ministry to persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

Justice and Witness

Justice and Witness Ministries is one of four Covenanted Ministries in the UCC, helps local congregations and all settings of the church respond to God’s commandments to do justice, seek peace and effect change for a better world. The work of JWM is guided by the pronouncements and resolutions approved by the UCC at General Synod.

Immigrant Welcoming Congregation

We are proud to partner with El Pueblo de Flagstaff, a grassroots immigrant advocacy group that works in the following areas:

  • Mutual Aid
  • Rapid response and Community Defense
  • Sanctuary Support Network and Deportation Defense
  • Know Your Rights Trainings

Creation Justice

As we learn in the opening pages of Genesis, our first calling as people of faith is to care for God’s creation. Whether it is taking on the climate crises or addressing the lead poisoning of children, environmental justice ministries could not have a higher purpose or calling than they do now. If the followers of Jesus today care about the air we breathe, the water we drink, or the world in which we live, then environmental justice ministry should undoubtedly be an integral strand in any church’s DNA.

W.I.S.E. Churches

The WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive and Engaged) Congregation for Mental Health Resolution was adopted at the 2015 United Church of Christ General Synod to encourage congregations to become more welcoming to individuals and families living mental health challenges, brain disorders, and substance use disorders.

Family Food Sunday

The Flagstaff Family Food Center serves hot meals, provides children’s literacy programs and now provide over 30,000 emergency food boxes to the food-insecure of our community. On Sunday, members of our congregation donate non-perishable goods that had been collected over the past week.

Five for Five Giving

With Five for Five Giving, we contribute to all four special mission offerings in the UCC (One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen the Church, Neighbors in Need, The Christmas Fund) and give to Our Church’s Wider Mission Basic Support.
